Apple Flapjack

Flapjack is a really brilliant way to consume oats. It may not be as healthy as a smoothie or a bowl of porridge, but an occasional piece is quite delicious.

225g Vegan Spread

75g Caster Sugar

2 Tablespoons of Golden Syrup

2 Tablespoons of Apple Sauce

1 Eating Apple – Peeled and finely chopped

350g Porridge Oats

Method

Pre-heat the oven to 180 degrees centigrade. Line a 28cm x 18cm Baking Tin with baking paper.

Add the Vegan Spread, Caster Sugar and the Golden Syrup to a medium pan and melt over a low heat. Once the ingredients have melted remove the pan from the heat and add the Apple Sauce and Eating Apple; mix the ingredients well. Add the Porridge Oats and give the mixture another good stir. Place the mixture into the prepared baking tin.

Bake for 20 – 25 minutes, then remove from the oven. Use a sharp knife to cut the flapjack into pieces in the tin while the mixture is still hot. Leave to cool completely before removing from the tin. Store in an airtight container.
